1877

Foundation in the town of Nyon of André & Fils, the historical parent company of Suisse-Atlantique

1941

On 10.07.1941, Mr. Georges Alfred André, CEO and President of André&Cie founded Suisse-Atlantique.

 

M/v St-Cergue is the first vessel managed by the Company. She bears the name of the village where the family André is originated from.

1948

s/s GENERAL GUISAN (I) is the first vessel built (in England) by Suisse-Atlantique, named after the famous Swiss general in charge during the Second World War who personally attended the naming ceremony

1952

m/v ROMANDIE (I) is the first heavy-fuel engine vessel built (still in England) by Suisse-Atlantique

1956 – 1962

Our Yugoslavian period during which 10 vessels were built in Rijeka and Split

1958

m/v NYON (I) ran aground in Scotland; the wreck  was cut, towed and rebuilt

1960

Our first order for bulk carriers, amongst the most modern and largest ungeared vessels of this time

1960 – 1962

Our liner service “Suisse-Atlantique Line” in North Atlantic, with partner owner Suisse-Outremer

1962

m/v CELERINA (I) rescued a splash-down Super-constellation with 48 survivors (24.09.1962)

1965

Our first order for two Panamax vessels, the biggest class of bulk carriers at this time

1966

Our first vessel built in Japan

1979

m/v LUCENDRO (II) is our first external vessel under full management

1981

Mr. Eric André who joined Suisse-Atlantique in 1966 is nominated CEO and President of the Company.

1985

Our first vessel built in Korea

Our first post-Panamax bulk carriers are built in Vietnam

80th vessel managed by Suisse-Atlantique : m/v ST-CERGUE (VII)

Mr. Eric André retires after 50 years of services with Suisse-Atlantique and 36 years as presidency.
